DESCRIPTION:Our fishing derbies are an excellent opportunity for children to enjoy the historic Essex County Park System in a different and fun way. You’ll have a great time creating your own ‘big fish’ stories and spending some quality time with your friends and families in some of the most beautiful parks in the area. We invite everyone to come out\, cast their lines\, experience Essex and take a look at the improvements we are making to revitalize our parks. \nFor Children Ages 15 and Under. It’s FREE to enter and you can win a prize! Bring your own fishing pole\, bait\, chair\, bucket and family! \n\nRegistration: 5:00pm – 6:00pm\nDerby: 6:00pm – 7:00pm\nAward Presentations: 7:15pm-7:30pm\n\n• Children are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles.\n• There are no rain dates in case Fishing Derbies are canceled due to weather.\n• Prizes will be awarded in various age categories.

DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku\, or “taking in the forest atmosphere\,” I guide experiences that invite people to engage their senses\, be fully present\, and deepen their connection with the natural world. \nHolly Martis will lead the group through the Forest Bathing.  She is a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide with training in CPR and Wilderness First Aid. “I lead mindful walks in forests and parks that foster calm\, reflection\, and renewal.”

DESCRIPTION:Nine Deeez Nite (’90s):  \nNew Jersey-based tribute band that brings high-energy ‘90s nostalgia to the stage. Their interactive live shows go beyond standard cover performances by blending alt-rock\, grunge\, and pop hits with ‘90s trivia\, dance parties\, and nostalgic memorabilia giveaways. \n\nThe Music: High-energy covers from icons like Nirvana\, Pearl Jam\, ‘NSYNC\, Snoop Dogg\, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.\nInteractive Games: Play along with live ‘90s trivia and win memorabilia between song sets.\nMegaMix Dance Parties: Extended dance sessions curated by live DJs and band members to keep the energy going.\n\nThe Essex County Free Summer Music Concert Series runs from June through August across the county’s historic parks\, featuring genre-spanning performances and spectacular firework shows. The events are entirely free to attend; simply pack a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the shows.
